Thought I'd make some corrections for you.

Errata:
1) It was Mount Vernon and nearby Clinton that were dueling for the county seat honor. At that time, Cavallo didn't exist since the Walhonding Canal hadn't been built yet. Clinton was later swallowed up by sprawling Mount Vernon and no longer exists.

2) It wasn't the town of Funk that got wiped off the map in the 1913 flood, it was Zuck. And the town had been in decline anyway since 1903 when it lost its post office.

Cheers!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10881935503810093862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10012891.post-1138628890722778712006-01-30T08:48:00.000-05:002006-01-30T08:48:00.000-05:00Glat it was of assistance. Just realized that I really showed a bias towards my native "section" - the east side - and barely mentioned the western or southwest corners of the county. Oh well, write about what you know.

Have a wonderful day Nina!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03178067463973728601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10012891.post-1137732496654644472006-01-19T23:48:00.000-05:002006-01-19T23:48:00.000-05:00Thanks for this bit of history Toby. I have been ...Thanks for this bit of history Toby. I have been researching my grandfather’s history in Knox County, Mansfield and Mt. Vernon for a few years now. While he was born and raised there. After my grandparents where married, they lived in Montgomery County and in the Dayton area. So while I still have extended family in Knox County, I didn't know much about it. So I found your write up very educational. Thanks!Ninahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15383280445002541782noreply@blogger.com
